Who is LIL MISS GNARLY?

Ignited by the stark gender x racial disparities of the contemporary digital art renaissance, multi-media feminist art collective LIL MISS GNARLY (artist Caroline Robin) is using MEME AS ART / PROPAGANDA to confront the disproportionate representation of and sales by women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ individuals within NFT & crypto art and the traditional art world.  Similar to how street artists use buildings, and billboards as their canvas, LIL MISS GNARLY appropriates ads, memes, and other contemporary digital / pop world media, synthesizing digital mixed media forms (2D, 3D, animation, audio/music production & sound design) into protest art evoking the Gorilla Girls and others (the Situationists, Women’s Liberation Movement of the 1960s-80s, et al.).  Irreverent and anti-establishment, Caroline & LIL MISS GNARLY have adopted the stance of artists as social rebels and provocateurs, instigating issue awareness to ignite change in the face of patriarchal (colonialist / oligarchical / crony-istic, non-Democratic, non-meritocratic) structures as well as elevate & celebrate underrepresented communities across art, tech, entertainment/media.

LIL MISS GNARLY’s unique digital graffiti / ART MEME / MEME as propaganda style (study) seeks to shine light on and examine the experience of overlooked female, BIPOC, and LGBTQ artists and allied visionaries through the lens of digital pop / graffiti art.  Playful and incendiary at times, the artists use humor and juxtaposition to demonstrate how prevailing hyper-centralized (patriarchal power) systems alienate and demotivate a significant part of our nation’s talent and intellectual capital, reward status quo oligarchy, enslaved the underrepresented, and institutionalize racism and sexism to grave consequences (e.g. environmental devastation, predatory capitalism, etc.).
